It is the 29th of November in Scotland (as indeed it is in most places this side of the international date line). It seems that for some reason there is a need to send more fireworks skywards from our beautiful castle in the capital. WHY? 

I have searched the internet. 

I have searched my brain – what is left of it – for some good reason.

It is of course St Andrews day tomorrow. 

But St Andrew had nothing to do with fireworks that I know about. That was Guy Fawkes was it not? Why is it that we have to have fireworks here at every turn? 

We have the fireworks in the gardens to mark the end of the Festival,

we have fireworks to mark the start of another New Year…..but fireworks for St Andrews day? 

Somebody has money to burn…..
