As an aspiring journalist I know that the coming of the Information Age has meant great changes in the way we get our information and also what information we get. According to the Tulsa World “The free flow of information is the lifeblood of a democracy.” Nothing new there then.
It is however interesting and also a little alarming to hear that US children are not being taught about government in schools and indeed that some cannot name the Vice-President of the United States.

Sunshine Week is therefore being promoted as an opportunity to remind readers about the Freedom of Information legislation and its importance to both ordinary citizens of Oklahoma and the rest of the US.
